2014 GFSS Symposium
11th Annual Symposium
Food Safety-There’s an App for That!
It has never been so easy to quickly and widely distribute information by anyone to everyone. The evolution of social media has enabled our society to be more connected, aware and engaged. This is a monumental benefit for risk and crisis communications, but not without disadvantages: greater demand for even more rapid dissemination of facts and the challenge of reversing a mountain of misinformation from various sources. As these communications tools evolve, food safety professionals are seeking other ways to best utilize these tools, such as using restaurant reviews to track foodborne illnesses. This year’s Symposium will examine some of the lessons and best practices in the social media dialogue about food safety.
Objective of the Symposium:
To bring together people from the Guelph Food Safety network and others who are interested in the risk management approach to food safety, in order to learn more about this topic, discuss issues of common interest and broaden networks.
This year’s Symposium will examine some of the lessons and best practices in the social media dialogue about food safety.
