Dundas Company Fined $14,000 For Drinking Water Violations

Hamilton - Choices Association Inc. was fined $14,000 for issues involving safe drinking water systems, contrary to the Safe Drinking Water Act.

The company is located in Dundas. The company operates four group homes with a small non-municipal non-residential designated drinking water system. The company is the owner and operating authority of the drinking water systems and is responsible for ensuring that the systems operate in accordance with Regulation 170/03 of the said act.

Ministry staff conducted inspections of the four drinking water systems to ensure compliance. During the inspections, numerous non-compliance issues were found involving sampling, trained or experienced operators, notice to director and reporting.

The company was fined a total of $14,000 plus victim fine surcharges totaling $3,500 and was given one year to pay the fine.
